Hey everyone, I’m here with XGC HYLANDER XD, well actually it's now XGC HYLANDER XC, because of his recent promotion to Community Leader. Let’s learn a little more about our beloved Hylander!
XGC PRESTIGE ND: How long have you been in XG?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I joined XGC in April of 2006.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: Outside of Xbox Live what other hobbies do you have?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I was a bowler (Duckpin bowling - East Coast) for 20 years but moved to MN in 2004 and haven't really bowled much since 2000. Mainly I spend time with my son which gives me an excuse to game even more!! I also am known to play guitar, piano or various other instruments as well as do paintings.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: What kind of music do you enjoy?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I actually enjoy all types of music. It really depends on the time and place. If I am choosing I usually go with 80's and 90's rock. I also am into most all the newer alternative rock stuff. For those that can remember it, Headbangers Ball was a normal show for me to watch.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: Which consoles have you played?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I would be showing my age by saying Atari but oh well as that is where I started out. I then got into the Sega stuff after that but jumped into Arcades more as I enjoyed the social atmosphere of those over sitting in my room playing with myself. Playing with others is always more fun!! I missed the entire Playstation era as I was too busy bowling, drinking and partying with friends. My wife won my XBOX and well, XBL has taken over since.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: What are your preferred gaming genres that you usually play?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I actually have always liked racing games more then anything else. The Need For Speed games I like the most. I don't like PRO Street because it is just a race and has nothing to do with the core idea of NFS, which is street racing and police chases. I have grown into a FPS fan and torn between COD4 and Halo3.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: What is your occupation outside of Xiled Gaming?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I have been self employed for 8 years. I primarily do mortgage and real estate consulting. More recently I have been offered positions at multiple companies which are in management and sales roles, which I am considering taking based on how the Mortgage Industry is at this time.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: Describe yourself in one word.
XGC HYLANDER XC: How the hell can you use just one word? Some would say evil or bossy but the bottom line is, I am honest, fair and firm. As well as compassionate towards others even those that **** me off. That may come to a surprise to many but it is true.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: What qualities do you have that have made it possible for you to become the second ever Xiled Gaming Community Leader?
XGC HYLANDER XC: I think the main thing is commitment and loyalty to the better good of the community as a whole. Helping grow the community is also important. (I had 17 total clans at one time as a section leader). However, just bringing in members isn't the end all. You have to be a leader to them and train them to do the same. Although many would probably say I am to much of one, being a harda** is probably also why I am where I am at. Again, being fair but firm is important. You also need to use common sense and never get wrapped up in DRAMA.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: Do you have any advice for those who wish to rise up and be amongst the upper ranks within Xiled Gaming?
XGC HYLANDER XC: The first thing would be to send all the Community Leaders 500 bucks. From there we can discuss getting them moved up very quickly. LOL!! The serious answer is, remember, this is online gaming. Just get online and have fun. That can include socializing with people or gaming. All the other nonsense people bring into their online experience is just crap. As for moving up in the ranks, decide whether you really want to commit your time to helping others while you are gaming. There is way more to it then getting two letters at the end of your gamertag and there is no paycheck regardless what some people think.
XGC PRESTIGE ND: What direction do you see Xiled Gaming going in within the near future?
XGC HYLANDER XC: XG will take over the online gaming world. Just look at our site. It has something for every gamer regardless what platform they are on or game they choose to play. Plus it has the greatest members that any community could have and is growing every day.
Thank you for reading everyone; tune in next time for our mystery interview!
