I took the Generals Class and one name came up a few times. XGC BigBeso XD. He also had a few threads in my clan. Who is he? I didn't know, so I knocked on his profile and he said 'Come In.'
Heres how it went.
Me: Hi, Do you know Hylander talks about you in every Generals class?
Beso: Every meeting huh? Probably along the lines of "Look at me, I passed up the guy that recruited me, and you can too" lol
Me: I think it's because he's proud of you. Did you know your even like the extra credit question in the test?
Beso: I found out when Twitty went through the class.
Me: Does that make you Legendary? (I think it does)
Beso: lol I guess it does. Look at what I created.
Me: Where did you start in XG?
Beso: Little known fact: I started in KoG. I'll never remember the kids name but, when he explained everything about the community to me, I jumped at the chance. About a week into it, a member came to me and told me about the 18+ section. So he set me up with a General by the name of XGC USA in XGC Good Game. The rest is history.
Me: Are you going to tell me Hurricane is the best clan you have? (It's ok to laugh at me)
Beso: lol Hurricane, until recently when a certain "Bunny" took over, was a huge headache for me. It was almost shut down on numerous occasions. But yes, it is certainly shining bright as of late!
Me: You have 8 clans (time for shameless clan promotion)
Beso: HAHA, well, technically I should only be in my home clan(s). But as an XD, I also put my tag into clans that either need help, to be watched over, or simply checked up on.
XD's now rotate in and out of clans. If you had said 3 months ago how many clans I had I would have said 5, now it's 8. In a few months it may change again. The Clans I like to keep are XGC Supremacy because that was the first clan I was General in and XGC Hurricane for different reasons. I poured blood, sweat and tears into that clan and sometimes without results. We've started over with Hurricane 2 or 3 times. I like to keep track of it.
Me: (Uhh Oh) Hurricane is one of the clans on your site tag, Do we still have an assigned XD?
Beso: Not really. Although some XD's are more informed and in tune with what is going on in certain clans, any XS can go to any XD for help.
Me: I have a couple things I wanted to know, one is, When we recruit someone, what do you want us to teach them?
Beso: To reach out. Don't be so shy about sending the invites to other members in your clan, or anyone in XGC at all. We didn't recruit you to be used as a tool to build our website. We recruited you to play with you. So play. Have fun!
Me; After the honor code, the next thing I teach a recruit is how to use the site, should we push posting?
Beso: I wouldn't PUSH it. But make sure they know how useful a tool it is. After all, communication is the key. If someone tried getting a hold of me, but only on the box, I may or may not get it in time. But sending me a PM, as well as posting in the designated forum slims the chance of a question or problem going unheard. Right?
You don't have to be a big poster to succeed in XG. It's a tool. Back in Halo 2 we didn't use the site as effectively as we do now. At that time not everyone signed up on the site. Now we make sure they do. What the Website does is make us stronger.
Me: We use it for that. Kind of. As a General, I've always used, meeting attendance, posting, and playing with the clan as a way of measuring who to promote. What should we be looking for when promoting?
Beso: Those are great ways to measure promotions. But someone could still show up to every meeting, post all day, and play with people in the clan and still not be deserving of a promotion. It's all about their attitude DURING those times. Do they show leadership skill? Are they willing to help out when called upon? What kind of interactions are displayed?
Me: Does recruiting have anything to do with it? A lot of people think it does.
Beso: Nope. We've had this problem a lot. Someone complaining that they recruit a ton, and have been waiting for a promotion. But recruiting is not all we look for. (see above answer)
Me: I m moderator for my own little section of the News Dept. It's interesting, I have a few more options and when something is deleted I can still see it. I thought I screwed up at first. You are a SUPER MODERATOR. What can they do?
Beso: Pretty much the same as you, just over more of the site. If someone accidentally deletes something we can bring it back for them. Also if someone causes drama or problems on the site and deletes it, the proof is still there and we can deal with the evidence. Again the site is a tool for communication. Keeping it running smoothly makes us great and better that other gaming communities.
We can also remove stuff from peoples profile. Someone recently had a swastika on their profile and Sig. I removed it and put a warning up. That kind of thing happens and someone has to be able to correct it.
Me: If I gave you an opportunity to bring out something that bugs you what would you say?
Beso: It would be that I don't like it when people leave XG because something in their life has happened. I'm talking Personal Reasons. Talk to someone first. Come and play when you can. We don't recruit people to put them to work. Everyone here is a volunteer. If things in life come up, making it to a clan meeting isn't a concern. Deal with life and come and play with us when you can. We will still be here, don't leave.
Me: When would a person need to step down from their responsibilities for personal reasons?
Beso: Anytime someone thinks they can't fulfill their responsibilities, they should. Once your a Captain or above, you have agreed to a leadership role. You need to be making meeting, working with squads and dealing with problems. We need to be organized for those who volunteer. If you can't do what you were doing before, step down, and play when you can. It's about playing with our clans, we can't forget that. Once your ready, your position will be there.
Me: I looked up your Bungie stats, nice. Most kills with a B.R. always cool, No cone kill, thats suckie, but you have 2 Elephant kills. What the heck is that?
Beso: Hahaha...well, the BR is always weapon of choice. Does cone suicide count? And the elephant kills are fun. Make it dance in the air, then watch it come down on someone. I highly recommend doing it for someone that hasn't yet.
Me: Should we bring up Twitty?
Beso: I love her. That's as far as it goes. I don't get involved in her XG work. For obvious reasons. She is where she is because of her, and her only!
Me: She has a lot of clans?
Beso: Yeah. But she has shown time and time again that she can handle them. Maybe one day she'll be teaching General's classes and mentioning me in them too. lol
Me: Her name was brought to my attention for an interview. I wanted to give it to someone else, I didn't want the interviews to overlap. They should both be unique. What do you think she will say about you?
Beso: She'll probably start off with how annoyed she was with my involvement in XG in the beginning. But once we moved in together, she saw how much fun it was, and how well I got along with the other members, she decided to "Join the dark side! Muauahahahaha"

He pegged that right on. Thats exactly what she said.
I found XGC BigBeso XD to be so informative it was amazing. I took full advantage. We discussed a lot of things and he helped me out a lot. The one thing that came through for me was, Don't lose the fact that we came here to play. It was a humbling thought that made XG seem like a softer place again.
Your awesome Beso, Thank you.
