Capcom Spreads Resident Evil Love to Wii Owners
Source: Game Informer
There’s no doubt Resident Evil fans sporting only a Nintendo Wii will be turning green with jealously as 360 and PS3 owners start playing through Resident Evil 5 this weekend. But they shouldn’t: that’s because Capcom is showering the little console that could with not one, but three new Resident Evil games, exclusively for the Wii!
The first is Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, a sequel to the surprisingly good Umbrella Chronicles, which somehow managed to make rail shooters fun again. Capcom took notice of UC’s success and has begun working on the newly announced sequel, which promises even more interactive pathways, playable characters, and new environments, as it retells the events of Resident Evil 2. Additionally Capcom is adding an all new storyline, starring Leon Kennedy in South America that takes place before the events Resident Evil 2. The Darkside Chronicles will also purportedly have a “more in-depth co-op experience,” and 2 player co-op in Umbrella Chronicles wasn’t that bad to begin with.
Also on the plate for Resident Evil loving Wii owners, are the two Gamecube remakes Resident Evil Classic, and Resident Evil Zero, redone for the Wii. If a remake of a remake doesn’t have you too excited, don’t forget both games were highly touted when they were released, and looked excellent despite being on the less powerful Gamecube. The remakes have also been refitted to support the Wii Remote, and will debut for $29.99! We’ll have to wait for more details to be released to see if Resident Evil Classic and Resident Evil Zero will be worth buying if you’ve already played the Gamecube versions, but if you haven’t this is the best chance you’re ever going to get to catch up on the series, and it should hopefully lessen the jealousy Wii owners might be nursing towards those playing RE5.
