CLAN SUPPORT ON XBOX LIVE

Most of us that liked halo 2 loved the idea of the clan support system within the game or even liked the idea of it on the dashboard!
I am making an effort after tweeting with xbox officials to partition them to put on clan support on the dashboard for those of us that love a system support other than the forums!

You may ask, Why do you need clan support on the game when you have the forums?
That is simple, Many clans or people are turned away from clans and XG because they are not able to be in the clan right away due to their access to the computer. This means that they feel excluded and left out of the clan. Many people also enjoy being able to quickly enjoy seeing who is on in the clan when they get on instead of looking for a tag and checking its friends list. This way your clan is also private until you join!

I will post a link to the xbox.com forums asap when i post the request and would like the support of anyone willing to chime in!

it there was a clan feature on XBL, we would def take advantage of it to the best of our ability...

however, XG benefits more from not having clan features...

1. when there is clan structures on the box (we saw this in halo 2) people tend to think that XG is defined to the one game (eg halo 2), or in this case one system (XG is on PS3, PC, and we aren't afraid to venture to the wii as well)

2. people won't be as likely to use the website (that we pay good money to put together/host/etc.) because they will attempt to just use the features of the clan list on the console...

3. clan information is much easier to communicate on the website (clan lists, etc.) than to look on everyones FL or clan list...

i'm not saying that there aren't benefits to having a clan list on the box... certainly it would be nice to some friend list room cleared up with having a clan list...

i just want to say that there is more to it than just an extra feature... XG has been around for quite some time and the leaders of XG have managed gaming clans/communities in many different environments... we've seen what works and what doesn't, and we weren't upset that there was no clan list on the 360 (although we would have liked for the maximum no. of friends to have been increased to 250+)

i'm interested to see your opinions on my statement... and of course i'm not going to be mad if you disagree... just offering some insight

Well i think most of the things you mention are really up to the general. For instance the lack of people on the website etc. it could happen but that becomes part of the generals resolve to make sure his members are on the site. While its not required to be promoted it is definitely desirable no member who wants to be in the clan is not going to be on the site.

I think XG has transgressed the stage of being one system community it's up to those unique few to try and venture into the other systems so id have a hard time believing it impact them to much. Im fully committed to keeping the syndicate ps3 clan up going for instance and im not gunna let that fall bcuz of an extra feature on the box per se.

I definitely agree that its easier to communicate on here but still there are those that dont have that option to be on a computer all the time etc.

Keep them coming with the problems etc it'll help :)

yeah i'm not saying xg will falter with an in console clan structure... we have made it work in the past, and we have some awesome leaders and members in xg that use initiative to make things run at optimum levels

i know it's up to the general to increase, but there is a different frame of mind with a lot of individuals with the in-console clan structures... it was much more difficult to get people active on the website during the days of halo 2... people sometimes thought that they were confined to that clan on that game/console... as much as we'd like to think that everyone is on the same page with what XG is and what it stands for, communication isn't always as good in some clans vs others...

i guess people just seem more open minded without an in console clan list, just from my experience...

As around I remember that but I think that it will force generals to know their jobs and so forth we as a community have transgressed that stage of one game dominance everyone can see that undoubtedly so it would be up to the general and captains to maintain that structure
it works just gotta make sure we have everyone understand what the deal is if I'm recruiting halo they will know you can switch to a cod squad

Well as both of you have mentioned as with most anything, there are "ups" and "downs" to both perspectives. If you do decide it's a good thing, keep in mind we have a lot of manpower to push the idea. Make it a universal decision and I'm sure we could make some noise with a community of this size and magnitude.
