When you smudge, incorperate a flow. Also when you smudge dont smudge to hard and keep it clean. I wouldn't recommend blurring over the zombie face. well not alot. a tiny bit. Impressive work on lighting although i would say its a lil bit dark. and nice job the shot on the tip of the gun, it doesn't look like you put that at first.

yeah I was going for a out of the smoke effect for the zombie but it was too much and it was not blurred too much smudging :O.... but thanks for the tips :D

a random zombie image that I found and took out the backround and a shot of a destroyed new york city.....I did the explosion from the gun myself

I like it. The render and the zombie are so colorful, then the background is black and white. Try adding gradient overlays to blend all the images together more.
