A simple rule of thumb to remember is that,

A) If it's not something able to be done by every player
B) If it's not something the game is designed to do
or
C) If it's not something that other members of the game would be ok with you doing

Most likely I would say it's not ok, and here's the reason being...

If you get used to being able to glitch in private games, you will most likely accidently do it in a real game just because you've started to do it in private games. To be a truely professional gamer, you shouldn't need to glitch or anything like that to win.

I'm not saying this is definate but that's my take on it.

I hate glitching, it ruins the fun of the game! Kind of like old school cheat codes and game shark on the older systems! It was cool to say you could do it, but it ruined the gameplay!

Its supposed to be a level playing field right? (well....as much as it can be with differing network speeds). Glitches are often used to give one person/team an advantage over the other.... I personally wouldnt, just because glitching in general is seen as bad. Regardless of what you were going to do, or the fact it was a private match, alot of people dont agree with it and may judge XG differently if they knew

...Can't hurt to ask your Captain/General' for their stance on it tho

I definately respect him for asking, but I'm from the old school theory that your parents used....If you have ask then you shouldn't do it!

I personally hate glitching, I hated it in 4, and definetly hated it in WaW. It ruins the game to me, I mean whats a challenge, without the challenge? Always remember, Cheating may seem cool, but Cheaters never win. Friends of mine in WaW would rush to get upstairs in Nacht Der Untoten to get in that corner glitch, while another stands on top of you. I just think it ruins the challenge, but that's just me.

I like to try to find diff places you can get to in old school mode just for the fun of it i enjoy trying to find the places that diff game makers messed up a little bit and alot of the things that people call glitches on cod4 i wouldnt really consider them there are several spots where theres no obvious way in but once you get in there may be a ladder or one of the ledges where you can press a to climb up thats my opinion on the whole thing i see a glitch as something where you can see and shoot people but cannot be shot

ok... if you are glitching in a private match and not affecting the outcome of anybody's score/game then you can do it, but proceed with caution because you don't want to be tempted to do it in an actual game.

the general rule of thumb is "if you are giving yourself an unfair advantage" then you are cheating/glitching/etc. for instance i played Halo 2 more than any game in my life so i'll use examples from that... it was considered cheating to take a bomb/flag out of the map so that the other team can't get to it... but it was not cheating to use the BXR or BXB because everyone knew how to use it and they even used it at MLG touny's ... there is a fine line between little glitches that everyone knows (like technically a crouch jump is a glitch, but everyone who plays FPS knows how to crouch jump) and glitches that give you an unfair advantage... like i said if you do stuff in private then that's fine, just as long as it affects no one!!! people used to make private matches and super jump all of the time on H2, but if they super jumped and took the flag with them or something in matchmaking, then they would get the boot...
