While I was playing COD4 I ran in to some XGC AFT3RMATH folks. They communicated a lot when playing which is really what I was looking for.
Anyone can be a good FPS player. That said, good FPS players often lose because they are on a team that doesn't work well together, doesn't communicate, or simply everyone is out for themselves.
The XGC AFT3RMATH folks understood this.
I played with them for a while. I wasn't interested in being recruited by anyone at first. Over some time I saw that they were part of a community that values what I value (listed above) as well as quality over quantity. Add to this they were professional and good sports...even when those they played against weren't.
Soon I joined XGC AFT3RMATH, and while I'm a little older than most of the folks around here (38) and new to the console gaming and FPS games, they still valued my contributions and treated me as a part of the team.
This was nearly a year ago.
Not a lot has changed. We're playing different games and still come together as a team. We work on learning maps and communicating all the time. Some folks come, a few wander off, but my reasons for joining are the same reason I'm still here.
The people you spend your time with online can make or break the experience. I'm happy with my choice of associates.
Cheers!
