Tablets are specified for GUI intefaces to do things that are more interactive for recreational use. I prefer laptops because they are recreational and an excellent tool that can support alot more than any Tablet is currently capable of.

What he said. But I do love my iPad but I t is just much smarter to get a laptop over an iPad if you don't have a pc.

well first i prefer a laptop over an I-Pad, only because a laptop is generally easier to maneuver around plus you can install way more apps/programs on a laptop other than an I-Pad, plus if you want something for on the go, look for I-Pod Touchs online for cheap, thats what i did and now i has both and it works i take my ipod to school and i use my laptop at home or work.
