Ive been trying to get on elite so I can play and do clan conpete. For some reason I'm having a problem linking my gamer tag. Any suggestions.

Will the price of elite ever go down?

yes elite will go down once enough people get on there to make the price go down. since its not a Microsoft Product directly im pretty sure it will but then again look at the amount of people that buy live and the price goes up so its possible.
I don't think it will go down. There isn't a need for it to drop. Elite is getting you all the exclusive content early as well as perks like double xp and tokens as gifts. When they pitch elite as a sale at stores like Best Buy the main focal point is the huge savings of having Premium over buying the DLC's individually. Because it is such a huge savings, they're not going to reduce the price. If anything it will be hiked when Black Ops 2 comes out and it's time for us to renew since BO2 is going to use Elite 2.0 which is said to be in development with more features and without the bugs of the current 1.0 version.
