iPhones and iPod Touches can now keep track of all your Xbox Live buddies.
It's an idea that's as old as iPhone/iPod Touch software version 2.0: the ability to track Xbox Live Gamertags on the Apple handheld. But Nicholas Pike is the first to do it with his iXboxLive application: for 99 cents you can have the ability to view anyone's Gamertag on the go.
The program has an "early" feel to it -- in our tests it's prone to lagging and system crashes, but it does a good job doing what it's supposed to do: displaying players' Gamertags, their Achievements points for each game, and their overall Gamer Score in a touch-screen interface. It also shows when they were on last and playing which game.
But that's about all it does -- you cannot track individual achievements or even pull up your own Friend List in the program. Perhaps in a 2.0. But by then maybe Microsoft will have embraced the platform with an official Xbox Live application of its own.
For those who want to pull the App up with the iPhone App Store, search for "iXboxLive." For those with iTunes installed on their system, Click here to go straight to the application
