We got ourselves a Musical showdown!
Activision has unveiled a new website for Guitar Hero 5, in the process confirming not only that the game is returning to a numbered title, but that it has a surprising new release date.
And that date is September 1. You may have heard, a certain other music title is due out in early September. One that will feature the Beatles. It goes by the name of Rockband, ever hear of it?
Somewhere in my head I don't think that the market is big enough for both these games right now. Retail shelves probably aren't either. We've got ourselves a plastic instrument showdown here, and my bets on the one starring the most popular band of all time.
Still I feel a bit dumbstruck, Why would Activision want to go head 2 head with the Beatles? Its possible GH5 will do alright, but with Guitar Hero: Smash Hits coming out in less then a month it seems like there's already to much Guitar Hero.
Anyone still considering to buy GH5, this is the lineup of confirmed artists appearing in the game as of right now:
- The Rolling Stones
- The White Stripes
- Kings of Leon
- Tom Petty
- Bob Dylan
- Johnny Cash
- Santana
- Vampire Weekend
- Beastie Boys
- Coldplay
- Duran Duran
- Gorillaz
- Jimmy Eat World
- Muse
- The Raconteurs
