HALO- MORE THAN A GAME?

We all know the time old classic tale, a protagonist facing impossible odds and a great enemy, no hope for success, and hope is dimming everywhere. In walks Master Chief Petty Officer, Spartan-117. This ultimate beast was taken as a child and raised with his fellow Spartans to be the ultimate fighting machine against human rebels, the Covenant and eventually the Flood.
But i don't have to tell you the classic tale of this Spartan war hero, his exploits have been known since the release of the original X-Box. Master Chief is a video game character, a memorable one to say the least and an effective target for the male macho-ness in gaming across the span. Attempts have been made for a T.V. series, however pathetic *cough* Forward Unto Dawn *cough* and the Japanese Anime of the Chief and other Spartans.
But perhaps I am being a little harsh on the franchise, Forward Unto Dawn was, after all, a youtube series and a very good one at that. Not to mention that when you put all the episodes together it CAN pass as an alright movie, however bad the acting is at times.
However one can only ponder on the most obvious question. Why has there been no full length movie or serious live action series? A movie was obviously in the mindset, there's footage of the first ten minutes all over youtube, but that project got scrapped to make room for a crappier movie than "Forward Unto Dawn" and that blessed piece of crap is "District 9" and we all know how that thing went down. Really? I mean hold on for a second. Really? "District 9" was chosen over a Halo movie? you ****ing piece of **** do you realize how much ****ing money you threw away?
I know it shows up as a bunch of * to you guys, but you understand what I'm saying. And for those of you who have the god given blessing of not seeing "District 9" you are blessed from the ANGER and pure RAGE I, and fellow Halo lovers, feel when we have to deal with the fact that Halo was scrapped so this nothing movie could be made.
But I digress. The fact remains that no GOOD Halo movie or series has been made. But a new hope (lol a Star Wars reference amidst all this sci fi) has come. Announced already, Steven Spielberg has taken the task of creating a live action Halo T.V. Series, and I have to say I am shaking like a little girl with excitement. This man helped create "Band of Brothers" for the love of God!!! This man has created E.T. Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Saving Private Ryan, A.I. Transformers, Letters from Iwo Jima, Flags of Our Fathers, Semper Fi, Eyes of the Holocaust, Transformers, and the list just goes on. And on. And on. And on.
Back to the Future 1, 2, and 3. Ok now I'm done.
The Goonies. Ok Now.
The Poltergiest. Ok I promise now!
The fact of the matter is, this man is a film genious, and yeah he has had his problems with some films. I mean I haven't found any I didn't like other than Twister, but thats just me, but truly this man is amazing. I can truly not think of anyone else who could do the job better than him, except maybe George Lucas from the 4,5, and 6 era.
I'm stoked for this I truly am. However, Spielberg is not working alone on this project. He is teaming up with Microsoft's Phil Spencer.
Spencer said of the show, “I think there’s a story in the Halo games that’s noteworthy, and that we can introduce more people to the IP by putting the franchise, stories, and characters in more accessible mediums than a first person shooter. That’s a good thing for Halo, a good thing for the platform, and a good thing for the IP owners.”
I definitely don’t think of it as filler,” he went on to say, “Halo, you could argue, is the most important entertainment IP that Microsoft owns. I can’t use the word filler anywhere near Halo, it just won’t work. If we’re going to do a television series with Halo, we’re going to do it the right way, and we’re going to do it because we think it really matters.”
Let me know of what you guys think of this in the comment section below. It's been a privilege writing for you all tonight.
