While Hollywood's first take on a Halo movie eventually ceased to exist, another writer is reported to have shown interest in Master Chief's life, this time, based on his novels. Gears of War movie scribe Stuart Beattie is said to have written another script for Halo's second big screen attempt, based on Eric Nylund's prequel text, Halo: Fall of Reach.
Fall of Reach's storyline goes before the events of Chief's first adventure in Halo: Combat Evolved. The novel introduces the early days of the United Nations Space Command's "SPARTAN" super soldier project, introducing the legendary John-117, who is known by many as Master Chief.
With Beattie's script on Gears of War film, which is now co-produced by Legendary Pictures (The Dark Knight), and the reported Halo movie, he's taken part in bringing two of Microsoft's significant franchises to Hollywood. LatinoReview reports that Spider-Man 3 concept artist, Kasra Farahani, has provided illustrations that will hopefully woo Halo rights holders, Microsoft. Keep in mind that they did have Academy Award winning director Peter Jackson work on the first attempt, but we all know how that went down, unfortunately.
