I don't know about spades but I used to play in some of the sat tournaments on pokerstars.net.
I got into the top three tables too! Good god that was hard because I had to beat a few thousand (8-9 can't remember) people, I was playing for 9 hours straight but the top third table knocked me out.

Now I just chill out on Zynga poker, lol.
