Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing XDC Arkalyn, a dedicated XGC trailblazer known for his friendliness and enthusiasm. In addition to getting to know XDC Arkalyn, we also discussed his revival of the XGC PC clans.

XDC Arkalyn’s XGC Journey: Revival of the PC Clans

XDC Arkalyn (formerly known as Mojo Jenkin5) was first recruited into XGC in October of 2012 by XGC member Chrisdumbag while playing Borderlands 2. After becoming a recruit for XGC Necropolis, XDC Arkalyn eventually became a private with XGC Relentless (the result of a clan split within XGC Necropolis), and shortly after transferred to the Events section of XDC, where he was promoted to the rank of seargant.

Since joining XGC, XDC Arkalyn has remained a very active member. He remembers that in the months after joining, he was very active on the forums and enjoyed talking with other members about their gaming preferences and experiences. It was through these conversations that XDC Arkalyn became interested in being a part of a PC clan within XGC: “I’ve always played games on both Xbox and PC. I usually played Halo or Black Ops or Borderlands 2 on Xbox, and then games like League of Legends and Age of Empires on PC. I’m a versatile gamer, I like to play a little bit of everything.”

In December 2012, XDC Arkalyn learned that the PC clans were not very active: “I learned that some clans had a member or two who played PC games, or that a clan might have a PC-based squad, but there weren’t really any clans dedicated to PC gaming. XGC members were still playing PC games, but they didn’t have any clans to get involved with.” After giving it some thought, XDC Arkalyn decided that he wanted to revive the PC clans; he shared his idea with his general, and immediately got to work.

Reviving the PC clans took a lot of work, including about a month of recruiting members: “Most of the people who were interested in joining the PC clan were people who play both PC and XBOX, or people who used to play Xbox or PS3 but now exclusively play on PC.” Currently, XDC Arkalyn is the general of XGC Awakening, Xiled Gaming’s only active PC clan. XGC Awakening has 17 active members, 3 active recruits, and 2 guests who usually play games like League of Legends, Minecraft, Age of Empires, and several others.

Getting to Know XDC Arkalyn

When he’s not reviving PC clans, XDC Arkalyn has plenty of fun inside and outside of gaming. Though he currently lives in Roanoke, Virginia, XDC Arkalyn has lived in many different cities throughout his life (including New Orleans, where we lived for several years). In Roanoke, he manages a Creole and Cajun restaurant. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, reading, staying fit, and (obviously) playing video games. His favorite Xbox game is Borderlands 2, and his favorite PC game is League of Legends. In terms of future releases, XDC Arkalyn is looking forward to Destiny (http://www.destinythegame.com/), set to release in 2014, and Elder Scrolls Online (http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/), set to release later this year.

XDC Arkalyn said that his favorite part about being a member of XGC was being able to serve the community: “XGC is about meeting new, cool people who are passionate about gaming.”

When asked about any future plans he has for XGC, XDC Arkalyn stated that he hopes to continue reviving PC clans within XGC: “There’s no reason why there should only be one PC clan. Right now our whole clan can play one or two games, but there are players who enjoy games like World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, and Elder Scrolls Online when it comes out. XGC can grow into those games and have a big following on them.” He also expressed an interest in building a strong competitive League of Legends team, with the hope of eventually competing at a world championship.

Before ending our interview, XDC Arkalyn offered some advice to his fellow XGC members: “Show dedication. Get on the forums and talk to people, find out what other people are playing. If you show dedication to the community, to the games you play, then people will want to play with you and XGC will grow stronger as a community.”

Feel free to hit up XDC Arkalyn on Xbox, PC, or here on xiledgaming.com (http://www.xiledgaming.com/member.php?67297-XDC-Arkalyn). He loves meeting fellow XGC members and trying out new games. Finally, make sure to contact XDC Arkalyn if you’re interested in helping build the XGC PC clans, or even if you’re just looking to play PC games with fellow XGC members; the PC clans are actively recruiting and hoping to continue expanding in the coming months!

FYI: Just updated the second paragraph of the "Getting to Know XDC Arkalyn" section of the article to be less redundant.
