So....I doubt many of you will remember the following events but here it goes.
The last time I was in XGC Halo 2 was the game the entire community was playing. My gamertag at the time was Dead Beat Punk. I was recruited by a couple of gamers that went by the tags XGC Crip and Whiskey3000. They were members of a thriving XGC Clan called Resolution. My generals at the time were XGC Rolltide and XGC Czech. For the life of me, I can't remember who my XS was.
About 6 months in we left collectively due to what we considered was a stifling bureaucracy and a fair amount of hypocrisy from our higher ups at the time. It seemed like they expected us to tow the respect line but felt free to speak to the rest of us in whatever fashion they saw fit. I wish I could remember specific arguments but it's been almost 10 years.
Upon leaving we started our own community, the Independent Gaming Community, or IGC. We took much of what we'd learned from XG and applied it to our new endeavor. IGC had a pretty decent run as far as start up clans go. For 6 years we ran a modestly successful clan, largely in part to the positive things we'd learned here. We reached number of around 6,000 at one point. We had forums much like these ones. We had a code of honor and a standard to which we held each other. We definitely had a golden age and put A LOT of work into trying to make an even keel council and a place where community didn't feel like the higher ups were out of touch with what they'd created.
All good things come to an end. We put IGC to bed a little over a year ago. Our council had gotten older. A lot of us had finished school or started families and lacked the time that was needed to run a clan that has thousands of members. It got old dealing with the same issues over and over again.....People leaving, generals not doing thier jobs, section leaders that thought they knew how to run the show all by themselves....The list goes on and on but whomever is reading this knows that. We gave it our best shot and for a while that was good enough. When we decided it wasn't anymore, we closed the doors.
What I'm looking for now is a place to casually game with a group of people that are mature. My focus is on gaming. I'm a bouncer and a full time tattoo artist as well as the parent of a 6yr old. I may or may not have time for every meeting that happens. What I don't need is a 19 year old kid to give me crap if I can't make it or to explain the code of honor too me. I don't have a chip on my shoulder, I'm just being honest.
I spoke with XGC Poker XS and XGC HDHiDef XS and they lead me to making this post. HiDef suggested that I'd be a good fit with XGC Grifter but I can't remember what clan he was the general of.
Anyway, thanks for the time.
