NEED FOR SPEED : PRO STREET ANNOUNCED!!

Need For Speed : Pro Street

EA is gearing up for the full unveil of its new Need For Speed multiplatform racer. Gone are the canyon-races of Carbon and in comes a new focus. We've got our hands on the first trailer too!

Need For Speed: Pro Street has got nothing at all to do with FIFA Street. In fact, if you look closely the trailer doesn't even say it's actually called Pro Street, but we know it is because there's a scan of a Polish mag doing the rounds with 'Need For Speed: Pro Street' on the cover.

The trailer doesn't give too much away, as the full reveal is expected to land on May 31; possibly even earlier if people can transcribe the Polish magazine's article. But look closely and you'll see crash damage alongside references to trading paint, which looks to be the big new feature for the series. Could Need For Speed be getting a little more serious and taking on a simulation approach?

The focus of the title remains a mystery but we're banking on it featuring track and street racing. Track racing because the trailer shows a car on a track and street racing because it's called Pro Street. See what we did there?

Need For Speed games usually blitz every gaming system around at the time of release, but from the first footage released, it looks to be taking on a next-gen approach for Xbox 360 and PS3. they're defiantly not GBA graphics...

Check out the movie and check back on May 31 for the full reveal of Need for Speed: Pro Street

EA is making a lot of noise about the NFS series driving in a new direction to previous instalments. Developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver and on track to launch this autumn on almost every platform going, we've got new screens ready for your viewing pleasure.

We broke the news of ProStreet's new damage-inducing direction a few weeks ago with the first details and official trailer (which you can find here) but now EA has released the first batch of screens.

According to EA ProStreet boasts "impeccable precision and impressively detailed photo-realistic graphics". It also features "Autosculpt" technology which will directly impact the car's performance after a bust-up with racing rivals. Every dent, every scratch and every crumpled body panel is a battle scar, proof of your commitment and competitive mettle, says EA.

"Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of street racing supremacy," said Executive Producer, Larry LaPierre. "This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers."
