What I would do is go to http://www.pandora.com/ and make a playlist with a favorite band/artist for a genre. Keep that playlist to a particular genre like only rock in your rock playlist otherwise you will get it swapping into some random music, or I have at least.

What I did is made 3 general playlists and then a mix playlist for when I'm working out it goes from rap/hiphop-to rock/classic rock -- to death metal and I thumbs down anything I don't like within the first 15seconds that lacks a motivating factor. You can use pandora on an iphone/android phone (i use an android phone for working out and sometimes while working during the day)

I think free pandora gets 40hours of playtime in a month so make note of songs/artists that pandora plays for you that you like, it's a wonderful way to find more music you like. I paid the subscription fee of like 20 bucks for a year use of monthly unlimited use. If you're looking for music to listen to via file........ahem
