My advice is to practice the main riffs until you can play them almost perfect every time. Work them all out and then just get a big 4x multiplier going and thats about it.
It helps if you can listen to the songs all the way through, so download the songs and listen to them if you are dedicated.

I agree, knowing the melody of the song is key when trying to play it. I live in an upstairs apartment with a b*tchy downstairs neighbor, and I don't do so well if I can't HEAR the game/song while I'm playing it. Although, for songs like "killing in the name" and "them bones" I could play without sound cause those songs are cool as hell and I know 'em pretty well already.
