There have already been rumors swirling about just when exactly Nintendo plans to release Wii MotionPlus, the add-on that would give Wii remotes more accurate motion controls. Now IGN's latest Wii podcast added more intrigue to this growing mystery, as Matt Casamassina stated he's "heard Nintendo was internally struggling with Wii MotionPlus, trying to figure out a few hiccups," and may have to "delay it past June" as a result. But speaking to CVG, Nintendo denies any such claims of delays... and they're using some tricky language to do so.
"No date was ever announced for MotionPlus -- so technically it can't be delayed," said a Nintendo representative. It's a coy technicality Nintendo is using, but strangely, they're also technically wrong. It is true that no specific date was ever given for Wii MotionPlus, but Nintendo did announce at E3 last year that the add-on would be bundled with Wii Sports Resort, which would ship in the spring of 2009. In fact, even the latest issue of Nintendo Power reported the add-on would be out by June. If MotionPlus does slip into the second half of the year (along with Wii Sports Resort), that would sure sound like a delay to us.

But as for when MotionPlus does finally end up releasing, there have been enough contradictory reports lately that, at this point, it's really anybody's guess.
