*raises hand* i gotz a question which rule does it break actually just wondering

In there forum honor code it lists the following;

"Don't post just to increase your number of posts. If you have nothing to say on a certain matter then don't post. The number of posts on this board has no direct relation to the experience of a member."

You might want to take the opportunity to review all of the rules you agreed upon when you signed up for an account on xiledgaming.com

Just out of curosity and please forgive me if Im stepping on any toes. But what is the ultimate goal of not allowing a "Counting" thread? I personally find these threads entertaining and rather enjoy reading through. I would classify a count thread the same as the "Person Below Me" thread we currently have in our section.

As long as people do not go crazy and it sparks forum activity? Why would this be a bad thing? Having threads that spark members to participate is in threads that are suppose to be fun.

Should forums have rules? Absolutely. Very important to have structure and control. But in that same sense, you want to provide an enviornment where you promote all the exciting and fun benefits of being part of Xiled Gaming.

Okay, I will get off my soap box now.

Jedi, the ultimate goal of not allowing counting threads to to prevent members from attempting to boost their post counts by spamming the forums with posts that have no meaning or serve any value to the community. There are discussion style threads that are equally entertaining and promote forum activity, but the general "counting" threads are frowned upon. An example of a counting thread is something like this; First person to 500 wins, then someone posts the number 1, the next 2, then 3, and so on. Forum visitors have been known to do this strictly to increase their post count and appear "more experienced".

I would have to agree with blunt simply getting on to post a number in a series seems like an insult to people who have legitimate posts in multiple forums...

Im new with XGC and i affirm the rules are the rules!! on the creativity side i like what XGC Jedi is trying to point out! sometimes the gray area is not so black an white!! i on the other hand will do my best to competently post on topic as i choose whether or not to engage in debate over whatever the current topic is. but if the conversation deviates somewhat that shouldn't be a problem as this happens on almost every thread like any conversation it flows like a river twist an turn and as long as it follows the main path all should be good. of course that's up to the leaders to decide!!

My advice, if it is gray stay away or ask your General before posting for clarification.

Not to mention what you are talking about next gen is different, its one thing to sway from topic to topic, but a count thread is where someone said the first one to 5oo wins and all the of the rest of the posts simply say 1. 2. 3. 4. Thats not a legitimate post and is completely in the red zone lol

Count threads are the meaningless aspect of any forum and WWW-wide, are looked down on for the ideas aforementioned by the leadership of XG.

If you're going to post and post and post, good for you; do it meaningfully. There are a million reasons to post something that someone else will read and appreciate...

Some good ideas:

Appropriate jokes, news, scrimmage times, suggestions, fun websites, tips and tricks, etc. They will (SURPRISE) increase your post count and will earn you praise, not a ban!!!

im going to add this. yes rules are rules and they are imposed for a reason but if it gets members active in the forums and the posts are in good taste and not degrading then i say allow it and aren't the forums supposed to be informing and fun if forums posts arentt interesting no one reads them and if this gets them more active and posting in the forums then why hold such a high standard since our members already give so much to be in Xgc anyways. isn't this a mature gaming community where we as adults know when to stop or enough is enough. have any of you sat back and asked ok why do we have members leaving Xgc their not just leaving to leave their are reasons and if their following the honor code and not in trouble for breaking the rules then what's going on with this picture

So to clear all of this stuff up and answer questions hopefully...is 3 word story, guilty or not guilty, this or that, etc......ok to do on the forums! Some of these threads are very entertaining and sparks TONS of activity!!! So I just want to be sure im not doing anything wrong, I dont want to accidently cause any problems.
