Hey everyone. Welcome to the first edition of Slayer Soapbox, a continuing thread dedicated to improving the value of your game-play through strategy and teamwork. I hope that as this progresses each reader gains a new confidence in their abilities and squad.

Week one: “Teamwork costs nothing”

You find yourself having somehow been able to manage getting through five enemies and gain access to their flag. You hide in the rear corner of the base preparing for a counter-attack and hoping that maybe someone, somehow saw you grab it and risks their K/D to come get you. What happens? Do you have a warthog and gunner out back immediately, honking to alert you to its potentially safe exit or do you wait watching the clock run down as a slew of red dots encroach upon your lone position? I venture to bet the latter situation happens far too frequently.

Ideally, you would have not had to fight your way in there to find yourself without prompt back-up. A quick plan is still a plan and is so much better than no plan at all. Still yet, Cooperation with the plan is paramount. How well is your attack going to fare if at the moment of initial contact your whole team splits up to chase down a kill they are unlikely to actually pick up? Be team minded and set your own score aside to get something more valuable, like lets say: the win. I can understand that at the end of the day it is just a game but how much does being mindful of an objective and your team-mates actually end up costing. The answer: Nothing. You just took a few seconds out of your game to make a call-out or pick up an a.ssist and besides, if you did it right you got yourself a few cR bonus just for using your better qualities to gain a well deserved win. I guess when it comes right down to it every group of players has a predisposed tendency to want to work together but all too often the desire to be the MVP cancels out any group dynamic. I am sorry, but if I wanted to play with only my own score to gain I would not be in a team match anyway. Learn now that cooperation and teamwork comes first and I can guarantee that along with some effort you are starting every match-making search with a new confidence.

Have fun and thanks for reading. I will be posting every Friday so if you like it please comment and wait for more.
Until next week, Mcknche553

Hopefully I can get some response as to if I should expand on this topic for next week or start discussion on something. Let me know if anyone would like a more in-depth talk.
