Sleepless Nights
By: XGC Armadillo6

I lay here and wonder
Why I'm still awake
The hours they taunt me
Cause it has been one hell of a day

I could close my eyes
And hope that sleep finds me
But what will I miss
In the hours I'm asleep

Twenty-four hours
Is all that we have In a day
Why are there hours
That our bodies must obey

Oh the moon and the sun
Revolve around in our lives
But each single rotation
Brings us closer to when we die

Why sleepless nights
This you ask of me
Because each and every moment
I'm afraid this time escapes from me

I lay here and wonder
Of all our family and friends
If they had more time
Would they have not slept in

Or taken that short nap
That many of us do
What did they miss
What would they want to do

I say it all the time
Why are you going to sleep
Because in my head
You can sleep when your dead

Live life to the fullest
Don't let a moment pass you by
If you have a chance to do something
You should deffinatly try

My body is telling me it's night
And I guess I must go
Succumb to this feeling
My eyes will soon be closed

For the next eight hours
What will pass me by
I will never know
Cause right now it's like I've died

"How can you be ever vigilant when you succumb to supposed death?" It's difficult when we are hardwired to lose a third of our lives to sleep.

Great Poem, it was a good read and made me think on a few things.
