THEATER OF WAR NEWS.

When the next Phase in the Xbox 360 Theater of War begins, I'll begin making updates on current events in the game world, along with a log of important events for each war. This'll be a way to keep people in XG updated, with a but of a fun twist. Any and all comments made below, I'll post every update, editing the Original Post ( now referred to as OP ) as the war goes on.

--INTRODUCTION.--

For those who don't understand the Theater of War ( ToW ) , or have never played Tom Clancy's Endwar, I'll break it down for you here.

The War ( World War III ) is between three major factions, the Joint Strike Force ( JSF / USA ) , the Spetznaz Guard Brigade ( SGB / Russia ) , and the European Federation Enforcer Corps ( EFEC/ European Federation/European Union. ). The war can be won by two means, holding 27 territories at the same time, or by holding 3 Faction Capitals.

The War is actually a cycle of multiple Wars. At the beginning of each Phase, or "War", the player chooses a faction to play as, which is a permanent choice until the Phase/War is over. At the end of each War, you are free to choose another Faction. Each "War" is made up of many turns, with no set limit upon them. The longest I've seen a War last, is 103 Days, which in game, are weeks. The Shortest, being 7 Days.

103 weeks is roughly 2 years, remembering that each Turn in Real Time, takes up 24 Hours, but in game takes up a week. So, 7 Days would be 7 Weeks, or almost 2 months.

Endwar's ToW also lets you choose and customize your own battallion, including Camoflauge options, unit upgrades, and Mission Support upgrades, at the Command Screen.

At the Command Screen, you're offered an overview of what's happening currently in the Campaign, and also receive news updates from around the world.

-BATTLE TYPES.-

There are four battle types in Endwar. Assault, Siege, Conquest, and Raid.

Assault: A battle to the death, where you seek only to eliminate the other player's units.

Siege: This is only played on Faction Capital Maps ( Washington D.C., Moscow, and Paris) . The object for the attacker, is to secure Missile Shield uplink Alpha, which is protected by a defender for a set time limit. The defender cannot call in any support, reinforcements, or aid until the Siege Timer expires. When the Siege Timer Expires, the mission isn't won/lost, but instead the Defender gets a chance to counter attack, and re-establish dominance. For a victory for the Attacker, Alpha must be held for at least two minutes.

Conques: Where you seek to gain control of every missile shield uplink, on the chosen map.

Raid: The attacker must destroy key buildings marked on the map, which are to be guarded by a defender. Reinforcements are slim for both sides.

Remember, Capitals take 3 Turns minimum to obtain. A Siege, Conquest, and Assault is required, for the attacking faction to control said Capital.

In the Current war ( 11 ), the JSF ( USA ) is winning. Russia has the second most territories, and Europe's down to four. USA has roughly 21, Russia 14, and the Europeans 4.

Once war 12 starts, I'll update this.
