TO FARVE OR NOT TO FARVE

I am curious to know what my fellow XGCers think about one of the most loved and hated Icons in the NFL that being Brett Farve. Personally I think over the last 3 years Farve has done nothing but worsen his public image, with all the scandals and am going to retire this year or come back. With that being said I admire his toughness and his ability to start so many games in his NFL career. I liked him at greenbay to me he was a throwback QB. Tough, fearless and accurate. Now I know there are plenty of Green Bay fans out there who loathe Farve, but one thing you have to remember is Farve had little choice but to leave Green Bay because the upper management wanted to move forward with Aaron Rogers which now looks like the right move.

But it is still interesting to me how much anamosity that still exist when you mention his name in NFL circles.

Hes done what he had to do. I would image it would be hard to walk away from sometime you love to do. Even though he hasnt been doing the best as he could. He still goes out and gives it his best. Yes it is about time for him to go. Hes got nothing else to prove to anyone.

I'm from Green Bay and we've been dealing with this on off retirement before Rodgers was even drafted. He needs to retire and leave the public eye for a few years to regain his public image. Joe Montana pulled a lot of the same stunts and caused the same turmoil when he went to Kansas City but most people don't remember that now and it turned out fine for him. All in all I've been a Packer fan first my whole life and a Brett Farve fan second and the best move that ever happened is he went to the Vikings gave them hope for a year came up short and then we won the SUPER BOWL - Take that Viking Fans.

I think Farve tarnished his legacy by retiring and coming back twice like he did. I can understand retirement for an NFL legend would be tough, but you've got to face the music when you get to be his age in a sport like the NFL. Your body probably can't take a beating like it could in years past.

I think he is one of the best QB's to play the game when he was in his prime in Green Bay. Like you said he is one of the toughest QB's to play the game. He possibly would've won another super bowl if his line could give him some protection.

You guys should go watch daniel tosh happy thoughts he goes on a rant about the whole retirement thing. Essentially Favre is still a good quarterback but he's a point in which he can no longer physically keep taking a beating and that knowledge gets lodged in his head when he is about to get hit so he either dumps the ball or takes the hit. Kinda sad but not everyone can stay at the top for so long.

Brett Farve is like the QB version of Jerry Rice.....
This man does not know when to quit. But for me i have 4 fantasy teams and all the drafts ive been in no one has taken Farve, so i guess there is no Farve

I like farve regardless of his up and downs and I think he got the short end of the stick with his year in mn when he played New Orleans for the NFC championship but regardless he has accomplished things no other qb's will for quite some time!
