XBOX ONE ... DEAD ALREADY!

christmas day there i was all excited and feeling like maybe santa does exist setting up my brand spanking new bright and shhiny xbox one. yesterday i was packing that same, not quite as shiny as the tear in my eye xbox one up for repair. dead, nothing ... no lights no power no gaming for me! i sauntered into the livingroom saying "xbox on" feeling all powerful and secure in the knowledge that this little gem will obey my every voice command as it has been doing very well for the last few weeks ... and nothing. said it louder, clearer, louder again ... came to the conclusion it was mad at me so i tried to manually start it.... old school style. nothing. the thing is just dead in the water.
anyone else have this? is the rumour that playstation have hired and dispersed ninjas to assassinate xbox ones while we sleep true? ... i have to wonder. now when the new one arrives i just know ill be like an obsessive first time parent checking the babies heart rate and breathing every 5 minutes. i know ... i need to get out more. guess i,ll just have to comfort myself with the 360 til microsoft send a replacement ... 360, and cookies.

if anyones looking for me i'll be in my room. cradling the xbox one controller and gently weeping ...

... oh the humanity!

I'd like to know the conditions the XO was in. Nevertheless, take it back asap! Your Warranty doesn't last forever.

A 4% failure rate in a 1,000,000 consoles is still 40,000. Sucks and I hope when I purchase it most of the bugs will be out of it.

Thats kind of why I dont like to buy the next gen systems at the beginning of the life cycle. Always really buggy and you never know what your going to end up with.

i still have just under a week to wait for my replacement to arrive. i have no idea what went wrong it was fine and then ... nothing. i try not to take these things personally. maybe i was too hard on the poor thing god knows i was all over it from the second i opened it. maybe i`ll break the next one in a little more gently ... wine and dine it a little before i slobber all over it in intense over excitement and start frantically jiggling things, pushing buttons and yelling commands. hell of a first month of a relationship for anything to handle truth be told.
the 5 stages of grief have been gone through rather quickly on this one ... thought they did last longer than the actual console now i think of it. anyway, acceptance reached and hey ... i still have the 360 to so it,s ok. guess i was just one of the unfortunte 4% ont this one.
as for its condition thing was brand new out of the box when i got it and lasted not even a month and it literally had no power. i tried unplugging the power supply and letting it cool as suggested on the xbox support site and the light on the power supply was solid orange which they say is good to go. still the console itself has no power. even had to use the paper clip trick to get my ghosts disc out before i sent it. we`ll see how long the replacement lasts ... gotta be pretty long odds of getting 2 burnouts in a row.
note to fate ... i am not trying to tempt you so get back in ur cage.

I thought it was Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans?

Anyway, I can't help but laugh at the thought of the funny troubleshooting conversations I've read on the internet.

Did you flip the power supply switch to on, or is it plugged into the power socket?

Sounds like it has a burnt, broken or blocked circuit.

Let us know if they tell you what the problem was. For example, if they found you long lost hamster Nibbles in your XO.

That sucks... I would be so pissed if that happened to me. I am looking forward to getting one eventually. Just gotta get all moved into my place and such.

This happened to me, but it was the power cord. It had jus so slightly backed outfof the transformer. Check all the connections to make sure it's in.

that sounds frustrating as hell. Mine is sitting right next to my x360 collecting dust. I bought it knowing it had some issues but the amount of problems it has is just annoying. They are coming out with updates in Feb and March which will be addressing some of them such as the party chat problems and storage issues.

I also hope the adapters for the turtle beach headsets come out soon, they keep getting pushed back (now until March I'm seeing)

They are pushing some big fixes out prior to the release of TitanFall. Said to be fixing party issues, the headset adapters and also fixes to the controller's making them more precise. I'm hoping these changes help make the x1 the system it should be!

have they pushed out any updates for the x1 yet? I did play the TitanFall Beta the other day loved it, but have not been back on since (busy with work unfortunately)

they sent me a brand spanking new one ... and i spent 5 hours installing all the stuff i'd lost. they also threw in a months worth of free xbox live gold for the month they took to realize ... oh yeah look at that, it really doesnt have any power. we'll send her a new one. i'll be honest, i've been using the new system very tentatively now my confidence in its durability has been shaken. feels a little like i have the delicate version, have to keep stopping and seeing if its ok, if it needs anything, is it too hot, did a speck of potentially crippling dust just land on it. the princess of xbox ones graces my livingroom. i even find myself speaking a little gentler with the voice commands incase i upset it. i know this is new and good to go but still .... tried, tested and so far very sturdy 360 has been getting all the real action and adventure whilst the xbox one is more like .... well the term pillow princess springs to mind.

Yeah I had bad luck with the original 360's, so hopefully I'll have good luck with the XB1. Mine has been on almost every night (whether I've been playing or watching hulu) since release day, and it's ran like a dream. I love my XB1! My only complaint is that there is no NHL 14 on XB1, I have to wait for NHL 15.
