"Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts" by Winston Churchill.
“This saying reminds me that no matter how good things are going, you have to keep finding ways to grow that success, because 'success is not final.' Then on the other side, when you are trying to do something and it doesn't work out, the 'failure is not fatal'. It is being willing to have the courage and conviction to keep working.”
XGC Coop XD is from Rome, GA. “A small town about 1.25 hours northwest of Atlanta. I haven't lived there since 1992 and I tell people it is a good place to be from, but not sure I would want to have lived there all my life.”
“The first console I got was the Atari 2600 (easy on the old jokes, but yeah) I am not sure what the first game was (insert too old to remember joke) but probably Space Invaders or Defender.“
Why did Coop Join XG? I ”was running a clan tag in BOII of my unit in the Navy Seabees. A guy noticed it because he was in the Seabees, as well. Turns out, he, XGC Jake, was the general over XGC Militia XK. We gamed a few days and he asked me to join.”
During his time in the community Coop sees XG as home. Why? He has applied many skills that he has taken from the community and uses them at work. “A couple of those are the skills of effective listening and problem solving. Listening is not just hearing what is said, but understanding the context and point of view of which it is being said. In a world where only have voice communication, for the most part, it is imperative that your listening skills are always improving. That skill leads right into the problem solving skill. There are various problems that come up to the XDs in the community and each one is the most important one for the members involved. So it is our responsibility to listen to everyone involved in order to get the whole story to be able to effectively resolve the issue.”
“I am not sure if I am inspired everyday, lol. I am a part owner in an engineering business, so I am inspired by my employees and the responsibility that I have to them and their families for our company to be successful.”
Outside the community he is a college football official (FCS level), “I spend a lot of time away during the fall calling football games around the southeast. There is a lot of work that goes into being an official that most people don't know about and it is almost a year round job. We have to do spring games, starting in March, we have training camps to go to in May-June, rule clinics in July, all the time between we are studying rules and trying to remain in physical condition.”
XGC Coop XD tells me:”Not that I am wise, but I often tell people that you can learn something from everyone that you interact with. It may be that you learn what you should be doing or what you shouldn't be doing, it is up to you to know the difference. So in our community, take a look at the people you're gaming with or that are in your clan. It should be easy to tell which ones that you can learn the positive attributes from because they are the ones that are growing the community and making XG better. It is also probably just as easy to pick out the ones that would teach you what not to do, because they are the ones starting drama or skirting on the edge of the rules.”
“I am a medical miracle, jk, but when I was younger the doctors told me something that didn't quite turn our to be true. When I was around 12 or 13, I had some hip issues to where my hips came out of the sockets. I had to have multiple surgeries to put in some plates and pins and all of that. Well, I was about 5'4" or so at the time and the doctors said that I would not get much taller when they took all of the hardware out of my hips. Well, I grew to be around 6'3" and the doctors were completely surprised."
Something he would like to fix in the world: "It would probably be the outside light fixture that quit working about two years ago, so that my wife will stop yelling at me when she gets home after dark. LOL."
“I tried to be respectful to everyone I meet and I think that has a tendency to have a positive influence on those that you come into contact with.”
What makes Coop cringe? “The thought of taking a class with Hylander, with Pottz as a class member. I wonder how many batteries I would need for my headset?”
XGC Coop XD’s Mentors
“There have been so many (see the wise saying question) and there are still many people that I continue to learn from. Whether they are my fellow XDs, the members that are higher up in the chain of command (XCs/XIs), or members that are on their way up the leadership ladder (XS, gen, capts, lts, etcl), I am always out new information and tactics that makes me a better leader in the community.”
