GEARS OF WAR RETURNS!
For all you gears fans out there. On January 27, 2014, Microsoft announced that they had purchased the rights of the franchise from Epic Games Gears of War 4 is an upcoming third person shooter video game developed by The Coalition, and published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One. On April 1, 2015, The Coalition's cinematics and weapons producer, Allie "JackFelling" Henze, confirmed that Gears of War 4 will not be available for the 360. The game is set to be released in 2016. It will be the fifth installment in the Gears of war series and the fourth main installment. It will be the sequel to Gears of war 3. Gears 4 was officially revealed at the Microsoft press conference at E3 2015. Gears 4 follows two new protagonists JD and Kait. Due to the lack of information we are unsure if any characters from previous tittles will return. According to studio head Rod Fergusson, Gears of War 4 will have a more intimate, personal, and morally ambiguous narrative than the past few games in the series. Fergusson said that Gears 4 is meant to convey the same feelings and themes as the original Gears of war. He explained that while Gears 1 was suspenseful game about the dangerous creatures in the universe, Gears of war 3 was too focused on the war between humans and Locusts and lost that tension. The Coalition is thus attempting to bring Gears 4 back to its roots by evoking, in his words, "that sense of mystery, things going bump in the night." Fergusson also hinted that the game's story will deal with morality with more subtlety and ambiguity than in past games. He stated that players' expectations for narratives have changed greatly. "Back in the day, people expected stories to be black and white, there's good and bad," he said. "Today, people want a lot of grey, a lot of moral ambiguity, things that are open to interpretation about what's right and wrong."Gears of War 4 will be played from a third person point of view, just like the other games in the Gears of War series. The developers have made a note of the fact that there will be only two playable characters at a time rather than the four the series had moved to in Gears of War 2 & 3. The gameplay will include a split screen multiplayer function that will allow for couch co-op as well as online co-op play. It can be assumed we will see a number of weapons that have already made an appearance in previous versions of the game since the main characters are also a part of the COG. In the official reveal trailer we see a few weapons that are recognizable such as the Gnasher shotguns and Lancers. Those of you who pre-ordered GoW Ultimate Edition will have early access to the beta when it is released. Keep your eyes open for this XBOX Exclusive.
