I actually married into country. My wife loves country and I hated it, although I always loved southern rock like Skynyrd and Alabama. I've always felt that modern country felt either over-produced or uninspired. I've found a few bands and artists I enjoy listening to. Eric Church for instance sounds as if he's been influenced mostly by rock and blues, which makes for an interesting style. The only genre I really can't listen to is pop. I've listened to so much music in my life that I can recognize similar composition structures, such as chord placement, percussion sequences, and lyrical flow. I usually will stop listening to a song the 5th or 6th time they repeat something as well.
Anyways, I wanted to share some comedy on the over-production and marketing of music, but it's not appropriate for the forum, so I'll send the link in a pm.
