I hate to double post but I do agree with the Halo 2 part of this statement.
If bungie had made Halo 3 like Halo 2 with better graphics, less auto aim, and taking out the BXR I would have fallen in love with Halo 3. I can't say Halo 3 isn't still my favorite game, but it leaves some things to be desired. It is clearly the worst of the Halo trilogy in terms of multiplayer. I know you can't play Halo CE on XBL, but its sick nasty of XBC and LAN and anyone who argues that is a fool. Halo 2 was so much fun, it was probably one of the most highly competitive games I have ever played.
In Halo 2 even the animation glitches that so many people hated added to the game. Just like in Halo 1 where bungie didn't mean for the pistol that you could 3 shot people with to be an equalizing weapon that made the game probably the base of countless games to come and the start of competitive gaming. All that because they made the pistol what many people still consider to be extremely over powered. In Halo 2 they added the battle rifle, now I know some people have a problem with it, but it was like the replacement to the pistol except it made sense that it did moderate damage and could shoot long range.
Even BXB and Doubleshooting added to the game. I mean BXR is basically an instant kill, at least with these two you have a chance to react. However if you took several hours to master either of these unintended things it could boost how good you were at halo 2 greatly.
Alright, enough of me being nostalgic. I guess the main point of that is Halo CE and Halo 2 both had things that made them great that Halo 3 doesn't have. Halo 3 has combinations of both games, like the auto aim compromise between the two games. Halo 3 also has many new features that separate it from other games, but it still leaves some things in actual online game play to be desired.
I agree CoD4 is a great game. For the type of shooter that it is, I think it is the best. But I think that Halo 3 is a better shooter in the fact that you have time to react and you pay the price for missing a shot where as in CoD4 you either kill the person so quickly that they never knew where you shot from or you are taken out by a person lying prone in some rubble before you can even aim because they are just peeking over a barrier enough to see you while you can only see the top of their helmet.
