i will help you out here.... i have or have used almost every headset at lans.
if you are looking for the best headset out there go with the astro, they have the best sound quality and are extremely comfortable. You have to buy the mix amp with it or else it will not produce the surround sound you are looking for. All together it will cost 250$ but worth it if you are serious about gaming. I own a pair and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
The 2nd best option is the TB HPX the downside of this headset is it is made for use at MLG events to it requires a astro mix amp to produce the surround sound you want. The astro mix amp runs for 130$ and the HPX headset runs for about 80$. This headset is the most comfortable headset I have ever used, it is virtually indestructible (made of metal) so there wont be any issue about breaking it.
Your 3rd options are the triton axpro. They have unreal sound quality that can almost match the Astro and HPX if you set the sound settings correctly. It is a fairly comfortable headset. The only issue with them are they tend to break if you are too rough with them. Most people don’t have any issues with them but I wont lie some people do. (the pro cod4 team Envy Us swears by them) They run for about 200$ and if you will be gentle they can be a great choice.
In my opinion your 4th choice is the TB x1. They are wired but they have a very long wire, 6ft I think. They are not comfortable at first but you get used to them real quick. They don’t have actual surround sound but they have a couple speakers to give it that effect. They are very hard to break but if your going to throw them at the wall don’t expect them to live long. This was my first headset and it worked perfect for the year and a half I had them. For $50 this is probably your best option if your just a casual gamer. I first used them at events for RSV1 and fell in love with them, MoB RAGE and LC still uses them.
As for the TB x3, TB x4 they are not really worth it. They are wireless but they eat batteries. I hope this helped you…
