I'm somewhat new to paintball. I've played before, but only with my friends. My brother owns a tipman 98 custom 14" barel. I can't tell ya what any of that means but I'm wondering what kinds of guns are good for beginers and what kinds of parts I should use. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks for your time. :D

Ya well i dont have a good job and so i am used to the lower level of competition play, so to start out i would reccomend an Ion by SmartParts, they are very low maintenance and are a little under 200. I have one but have put about 200-300 extra dollars in it and im not done.

i have been playing for a few years now and it really depends on what type of player you are. if your patent and want to shoot from a distancew thetipman a5 with flatline is a good gun to start with they are easy to maintain and tipman has good custmer service if there is a problem not to metion if you choose to upgrade do it yourself is easy as well. if you want to do a little of both up front in your face and distance i recomend the 98 custom also by tippman. it cost a little less but is still an all around good gun. if you want to start the way that i did and go gun crazy and run around screaming and shooting everything that moves the spyders are cheap and great for that.(i recomend starting with the tipman 98 custom personly) that just my take on the guns everyone has there own opion and it really comes down to how you want to play

Well these reason i suggested what i did is because i play speedball and etc. of the type, i dont venture into the woodsball anymore, but Tippman makes the best scenario guns as said. The A5 with a Flatline will be accurate at single fire but i would say the opposite of what you said Marksmen, the A5 is much wuicker and the 98 Custom is more Accurate to start out. Both guns require about the same maintenance and are easy to upgrade to become faster or more scenario based stuff. They do have some of the nicest customer service as Marksmen mentioned and the upgrades are easy to install for most beginners. I reccommend though for starting out competition that you choose a Ion or an Invert Mini, low maintenance for a competition gun and low end of the market, but with a few simple upgrades anyone can be a monster on the field.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.

Thanks for the tips guys. My brother says he might give me his tipman 98 custom cuz he might be getting a better one. Now i just need to start figuring out what kind of gun i want to buy for myself. I think im gonna go with the run around shooting everything in sight idea and get a spyder xD

i hate the 989, i just dont like the way it sits in my hand for some reason, my favorite gun is probably the dm7, but i was playing my teammates ego the other day and i think im gonna buy one, a little expensive, but i think i will go for a cheaper one and just upgrade the **** out of it

and if u guys are looking for a hopper, grab the empire magna drive, it loads about 50 bps, and it is just sick, lightweight and it loads amazing, just bought that, but ya, great deal

Yes i will agree, i've had my ion for a couple years and i don't have any problems. It works very well in speedball and woods. its very quiet and there are lots of available customizations.

I love woodsballin' it's the best. I have an Ariakon SIM-4, Ariakon was part of another company but then they split up into three companies, Ariakon, Armotech, and WarSensor. Anyway, I have extensively upgraded the marker and it is excellent for sniping, as well as engagments were I have to lay some serious paint down.

I have a Bushnell 3-9x40 scope the adjustable CAR stock, the visible laser site, flashlite for night time play, red dot site, silencer, RIS hand guard, and clip kit wich is for looks, the trigger showed is electronic with selective semi-three round-and full auto fire rates. I only put this trigger on if i know i am on a course i have to put down alot of paint. I normally use the composite M16 style single finger trigger. I run a remoit coil wich i have attached to my 48ci 3000psi tank in a pouch on my tacticle vest.
