IS COD 4 THE BEST ONLINE MULTIPLAYER ON 360?

Both games have huge gripes against them. The biggest problem with both is that in FPS games there are dozens of ways for the game to become incredibly cheap and lame and very very quickly.

In the realm of video game multiplayer, despite what reviewers may sometimes say, COD4 and Halo 3 strike pretty low on the totem pole. In Halo 3 there is absolutely no weapon balance whatsoever, unlike the first game. In COD4 there are more openings for cheap tactics than any other FPS game I've ever played in my life.

When it comes to quality multiplayer, don't look to Infinity Ward or Bungie. Look to companies like Valve or Epic, both of which have multiplayer franchises that have multiplayer that is absolutely perfect (the Unreal Tournament series or Counter-Strike).

When it comes to Multiplayer, I'd put Gears or UT3 at the top, mostly because Epic knows a lot more about level design and weapon balance than Bungie or IW because they've been doing it one hell of a lot longer.

Now, to be fair, is COD4 the best FPS multiplayer? Probably. There's a lot better weapon balance and you have to stay on your toes and strategize a lot more than Halo 3.

Bungie is a HUUUUGE fan of grabasstic multiplayer, which is a bunch of dudes just f*cking around and doing stupid stuff. It's nice if you want to waste time, but I've never come away from a Halo 3 multiplayer match feeling fufilled.

The first game was different. Back then, you had few enough weapons that had advantages and disadvantages to them to make the multiplayer have some strategy and thought process to it. It's not so much now.

....I just realized how old I look with that rant. Dammit.

The reason i dont play gears is because of the glitches and anyone who plays gears knows wat i am talking about. And up untill now the weapons were not balanced. The main weapon was the shotgun and if you were host u could snipe with it. So Both Halo 3 and CoD4 have some growing room to fill up. I would give them another year or so before we see anything good come out of either of them

as of right now it is, people are growing tired though that is why you see such a big jump on GTAIV then Madden... people will switch over to GRAW2 but will return for COD5

YEAH THATS TRUE ^^^^^

people who camp at this game end up doing crap either way, but sometimes people have to camp eg - on search and destroy, its going to happen if you dont like it get in there and kick some *** lol, CoD4 is easily the best game going i have been playing it since last november and im still not bored of it at all! the only game that "could" beat this is CoD5! i eagerly await the turn of it.

When i played halo I was only a 36 because i won 32 games in a row and did not go up a single level but when i finally lost a game I went down 3 levels and thats when i stopped playing it and went to call of duty. And I could kill in just four shots with the Br and I could kill with one shot to the head with a sniper on a regular basis. If any of you want to see a video wear I shot a guy in the head 6 times before he died send me a message and I'll let you look at it. You can go to his head and see the vapor trail going through his eyes. In Call of Duty we don't have this.

Here are my reasons for not playing Halo any more:

1. Melee system was purposefully made the way it was to level the playing field for newbs.
2. Level system was completely screwed up a newb can get to 50 in Rumble Pit.
3. Head shots didn't always count.
4. I once played 32 games I an row and did't go up a single level. Then I lost one and went down 3.
5. The people who play it are full of themselves.
6. Its no longer a tactical shooter like halo but a run an gun.
7. Halo 2 was just better than it. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around.
8. The level system is bassed on true skill?

Reasons for playing Call of Duty 4:
1. No glitches in the level system.
2. Has a much more mature playing crowd.
3. Headshots actually count.
4. If you play 32 games in a row your gurranteed a level.
5. You dont lose multiple levels for one game.
6. It can actually destingusih a foot shot from a chest shot.

Come on people just because Bungie made two great games doesn't mean the third game is automatically good. I would rather go back to halo 2 than play halo 3 any day just because anybody can pick it up and play it, and Bungies even said anybody can pick it up and play it at the launch. The funny thing was is that I bought the limited edition and the only thing of value to me that came with it was the calibration disc for your T.V..I stopped playing halo the month it came out and went back to playing Halo 2.

1. I agree, the melee system was changed to benefit the more casual player.

2. Rumble pit isn't ranked. I assume your talking about Lone Wolves. I know 2 people with 50's in that playlist. Out of my 70some friends, most of whom are 50's in other playlists. Thats actually the HARDEST playlist to get it in because you never really know how an FFA is going to go down.

3. They don't in CoD4 either, you just don't see it as much because guns shoot a lot faster then in Halo 3 and they have a wider spread so you could hit someone with 3 shots in a row from an M4 and not notice none of them count but the 4th will hit but to you it just looks like the gun was doing the missing and not you. On a side not if you watch online play video taped you will notice sometimes that when 2 people come around corners it will appear on the person who died screen that they shot or meleed first but they died anyways. That would be because of the connection. It happens a lot.

4. Call of Duty's ranking system doesn't take skill into account.

5. Thats the same with every game. You can try and fool yourself into thinking otherwise but every game has people who are gonna trash talk.

6. No its not... I signed on the other day and played games of domination, TD, HQ, the FFA playlist that I forget the name of... and half the time I was killing people who were in corners crouched... thats most certainly not running and gunning.

7. I agree whole-heartedly but this doesn't make CoD a better game then H3.

8. Yeah it means you don't level unless you deserve it. The problem with the trueskill equation that they use is that if you win a ton of games in a row and loose one you are going to loose a rank. But at the same time if you loose a ton of games and win the same amount on one level it will be almost impossible to loose that level because that is actually how good you are.

1. That you've seen yet. And its only a glitch in your eyes because it negatively effected you.

2. Thats completely opinion and can't be proven but I can tell you its false because every game has people who are going to ruin it for others.

3. Already addressed this.

4. Not if you loose miserably each time.

5. You don't loose levels at all.

6. This was just thrown in there because you didn't have anything else to say. Shoot a person 4 times in the foot with a br when they are no shields and they will die. Shoot a person with 1 bullet from a 3 bullet burst in the head when they are no shields and they will die.

Yeah, because there are absolutely no glitches in COD4. Nope. Nobody's ever been killed by someone sniping off map! Of course not!

The worst glitch that seems to be incurable is the Crabwalk, and it's incredibly hard to even pull off.

And up untill now the weapons were not balanced. The main weapon was the shotgun and if you were host u could snipe with it.

Yeah, I've played hundreds of ranked and player matches on Gears. You can't snipe with the shotgun. Even since the release nobody really used it outside of short range, and that's a fact.

No offense kiddo, but your entire post was the textbook example of a pot calling the kettle black.

I think cod4 has a great multiplayer. There's so many people and it has continuous game cycle...the only part i don't like is when the host end's the game and takes a win. :(

Celebrating it's 11 month on live and still the best game around multiplayer on all platforms. Here's to Infinity Ward (creator of Call of Duty 1, 2, and 4) for giving me something to with my life for the past year. Oh and also my biggest twitch of the last year, blasted M16... want... removed... and... stabbied....

Okay, but he does have a point with the host, in cod4 you don't have a ridiculous advantage (other than ending the game..sigh) in bullet power. Come on I've been absolutely down from redonkulous ranges from the host shotgun when the cog has appeared.
