Now it's not the greatest example, but this is what I came up with. I simply used the homefront render from planetrenders (The guy not the text). I used memory from previous tutorials to create a background, I added 2 c4d to help give the background more effect. I then added 3 gradient map effects and set to screen as well as reduced the transparency. I then added lighting and from what I could see it looked like it came from the left and right of the render on the sides, so I did my best. (I based this off of where the shadows on the render itself were located.) I also smudged around the renders shoulders because they just end abruptly, and i don't like that, so I tried to make it blend with the background instead (I'm not perfect at it yet.) Lastly I added text using a text format from Dafont.com (CounterStrike). Homefront is a very popular game. I agree some people will know what the text behind your render says, but there are people who don't, and for that reason you should try and keep your text visible and readable. I know I'm not an expert at creating graphics, but I figured I could try and help in some way.
