I had to export the file to .gif to dowload on website. The file size is greatly decreased and the image is blurred and low quality compared to jpeg and jpg. How do I transfer a file from xcf and maintain the quality with the transparency.

I ended up just doing this background; still want to know the solution to the problem for future reference. Thank you designers.

the second one looks better because the render does not stand out from the background as much...the first one needs to take colors from the render and add to the background...

I think I am going to add the top of the castle and the top of the arch to the two that are cropped with the black. I just was really really trying to help the render stand out from the background.

light source it too weak. it's too plain.
increase the light source by using the burn tool towards the right hand top corner, start out with a low exposure and work up till it looks natural.

when doing pop up sigs, it's usually a good idea to have the render level with the sig, i.e. have her legs or head in the sig, then the other part coming out. A great example is Tommy's SOTW for NFL. it makes the focal look like it belongs to the image and not just pasted on. Always save as a .PNG, it's the highest quality image available for photobucket and website. .XCF is the best for gimp, but the sites don't acknowledge it.

upload to photobucket and use the

code. the more times you upload an image, the lower quality it gets. use a fractal or gradient to help with colors and add depth and details.

I tried to add the arch and I agree that it does look better with the whole background. I would like to try a signature with an outdoor scene with maybe rocks or pyramids with an open sky and stars next.

I like the effect of the smoke around the tires but again it looks like you just took the render and slapped it on the background...there is no blending at all.

I disagree, I feel like it fits just well. I would personally try to make it not look like It's floating.

Maybe it was the floating that made it look bad to me (or my phone)...the edited version looks much better.

Work on colors. Gradients will help with that. Black space doesn't add well, use a smudge brush to pull outward
